The band that plays together, stays together — except for the vast majority that don’t.

Fortunately that’s the one thing that guitar player and vocalist Andy Tolins doesn’t have to worry about right now. Tolins, a member of The Triple A Blues Band, suffered a mild stroke on Saturday and is in recovery.

To help Tolins cover expenses, The Triple A Blues Band and Zeno’s Pub are hosting Aid Andy, a musical benefit that will run from 8 to 11 p.m. on Tuesday.

There won’t be a cover charge, but envelopes will be passed around to those looking to make a donation on behalf of a band that has been playing at Zeno’s for almost three decades.

“We’re all kind of like very much family here,” Jason Previte, a bartender at Zeno’s, said.

According to Previte, the band was already scheduled to perform a show featuring Triple A alumni, providing the perfect backdrop for a ready-made fundraiser.

Tolins posted his thanks on the event’s Facebook page and noted that he should make a full recovery.

“I am overwhelmed by all the love and support the SC community has shown me. I am currently in HealthSouth rehabbing and getting strong. ... Thanks to all the well-wishers who have buoyed my spirits during this challenging time,” Tolins said.
