On Monday evening, the State College Area School District board of directors voted unanimously to grant permission to bid the State High project.

The decision arrived following the Sept. 28 meeting during which the board reviewed Massaro Construction Management Services’ final construction estimate for the project.

During the intervening week, MCMS and the administration continued to review the bid documents and a meeting was held between the entire project team, including Crabtree, Rohrbaugh and Associates who also prepared a construction estimate, on Oct. 1 to address any lingering concerns.

Following the meeting, MCMS and the administration arrived at a joint recommendation to release the bid documents.

“The administration and the faculty as well have put a great deal of work into the final shape of this,” said Amber Concepcion, board president.

A pre-bid meeting will be held on Oct. 8 for the project team to review the project and field questions from potential bidders. The bid opening date will be publicly advertised as Nov. 5, and the administration and the board will review the bids on Nov. 9.

An approval vote is expected to occur on Nov. 16.

“That’s when it will really feel like its time to put a period on this part of the process,” Concepcion said.
