A water main break late Tuesday afternoon interrupted service at the Park Forest Middle School and some surrounding homes, according to the State College Borough Water Authority.
As of about 3 p.m., the break was still ongoing, Executive Director John Lichman said. He blamed the “brutally” cold weather for the break, saying the shifting movement of the ground caused the iron pipe to snap.
He said he was hoping for a quick repair and to have service restored by the evening.
A representative for the middle school could not be reached.
