Thursday’s “Jeopardy!” results might have left a bad taste in the mouth of a local contestant.

Vivek Srikrishnan, of State College and a graduate student studying energy and mineral engineering at Penn State, was in the lead heading into Final Jeopardy!

The category: 19th century Americans. The clue: In 1872, he wrote his thesis “Diseases of the Teeth” and soon after moved west to a drier climate for his health.

Srikrishnan was unable to come up with Doc Holliday, and it cost him. He bet $10,801 of his $15,200 total and finished in third place.

“I didn’t expect the intensity level, but it’s still really a lot of fun,” he said earlier this week of his “Jeopardy!” experience. “You don’t realize how quick the show goes and how intense it is when you’re sitting on your couch.”
