Alcohol played a role in a crash Saturday in State College that resulted in the hospitalization of a 52-year-old woman, police said.
According to police, the woman was intoxicated when she crossed in front of an SUV on the 600 block of South Atherton Street. She was treated for severe injuries and flown from the scene by medical helicopter.
Police said that the woman is still hospitalized but sustained no life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV was uninjured.
“Intoxicated pedestrians continue to be a challenge for traffic safety in our community,” Lt. Keith Robb said.
