State College police are investigating a rash of car break-ins and thefts reported in the Boalsburg area.
According to police, about 20 cars were entered in the neighborhood near the Pennsylvania Military Museum, including along Belle Avenue, Mary Elizabeth Street and the Boalsburg Pike. Thefts of small amounts of money and small items were reported in 15 of the cars entered.
Vehicles entered were reportedly unlocked, police said. Residents are reminded to remove all valuables and money from vehicles and lock them.
Many times, individuals are simply trying car doors until they find an open one, one officer said. These types of thefts tend to pick up this time of year, he added.
