Meth, guns and more found during a traffic stop, police say

A man is facing gun and drug charges in Centre County after police stopped him for allegedly speeding.

Caeser Virgil Smith Jr., 31, was driving eastbound on Interstate 80 on Monday in Snow Shoe Township. State troopers conducted a traffic stop at 4:10 p.m. and did a probable cause search due to an odor of marijuana around the vehicle.

Police discovered a Colt MK-IV .45 pistol, a 1911 BB gun, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Smith, police said, did not possess a license to carry a firearm.

The Mississippi man was charged with felony firearms not to be carried without a license, misdemeanor possessing a controlled substance, two counts of misdemeanor marijuana possession and misdemeanor use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Smith was unable to post $25,000 bail set by Magisterial Judge Carmine W. Prestia. He is in custody at Centre County Correctional Facility.
