A man is facing animal cruelty charges after state police at Rockview said he admitted Sunday to intentionally killing his dog and burying it on a rural Centre County property.

Marvin S. Williams Jr., 38, of Blair County, told troopers he shot his American bulldog after it bit him, police wrote in an affidavit of probable cause. He’s facing a felony and misdemeanor count of animal cruelty.

Williams said he buried the dog on a relative’s wooded property in Taylor Township, police wrote. Troopers said he told them he “put some rocks over the dog” so other animals wouldn’t eat it.

According to the affidavit, police also found bloody evidence in the garage where Williams said he shot the dog. No defense lawyer was listed.

He was arraigned Sunday by District Judge Steven Lachman, who released him on $50,000 unsecured bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 4.
