PHILIPSBURG — A West Decatur woman is in jail on charges she stabbed a man in his leg while state police investigate her claims that she did so because the man had sexually assaulted her earlier in the evening.
The woman is charged with aggravated assault, burglary and simple assault following an altercation police said happened in an apartment in the 300 block of North Front Street in Philipsburg late Monday evening into Tuesday morning.
In keeping with Centre Daily Times policy not to identify potential sexual assault victims, the newspaper is withholding the woman’s name until the state police complete their investigation into her claims.
The woman was at the apartment playing cards and drinking with four other people before heading to Sutton’s Bar in Clearfield County with two members of the group, police said in a criminal complaint.

At about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, they returned to the North Front Street apartment and she lay down to sleep beside the apartment resident.
She told police she awoke to find the man having sex with her, according to court documents.
Police said she got upset and left the room, then returned and slapped the man, “asking why he has done this to her.” She later kicked him in the groin, police said.
Police said she persuaded the man to take her to her brother’s home in West Decatur, police said. When the woman got out of the car, the man sped off, according to court documents.
She got a knife from her brother’s home, and went back to the man’s home where she kicked open the door, police said.
She later told police she “just swung the knife” and didn’t know where she “stuck” him, police said in a complaint.
The man had a puncture wound to his left thigh, police said.
State police said the rape allegations leveled by the woman are under investigation. She is jailed on $25,000 straight bail.
