Two people were taken to Centre County prison after an alleged attempted burglary at the Philipsburg hospital.
Shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday, hospital security heard a window break and contacted state police. Troopers tracked Kristal M. Parker, 30, of Bellefonte, through the snow to a vehicle nearby. Soon after, they found Paul E. Rider, 31, of Madisonburg, at a convenience store.
Police searched Rider’s backpack and discovered tools typically used to steal copper. A search of the vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia and several pieces of cut copper wires and pipes. Police also found a dozen 50-cent pieces that were minted between 1935 and 1964.
Rider and Parker were arraigned before District Judge Thomas Jordan on charges of attempted burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal mischief.
