Port Matilda man sentenced for child sex assault

A Port Matilda man was sentenced Tuesday to spend at least a year behind bars for indecently assaulting a 7-year-old girl, according to court documents.

Barry Gummo, 66, was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life under the state’s version of Megan’s Law, according to a news release from the District Attorney’s Office. Judge Bradley P. Lunsford handed down the sentence, which has a maximum of five years.

Authorities had said Gummo would have the girl undress and join him in a hot tub.

Gummo pleaded no contest in May to one felony count of indecent assault of a minor younger than 13, according to court records. Four other felonies were withdrawn as part of his plea.
