Police: Liberty Township couple left puppy outside for hours in the cold

A Liberty Township couple were cited with animal cruelty after state police said they left a small 4-month-old puppy tied outside Thursday in the cold for hours without food, water or shelter.

Police said Joshua Jordan, 21, and Zena Jordan, 19, of Monument, left their home sometime between 9 and 10 a.m. and had the dog tied to a tree. At some point, someone spotted the dog and reported to authorities that the dog was outside in the wet, cold weather, according to police.

Police said a trooper picked up the puppy around 5:15 p.m. and took it to Pets Come First in Potter Township. The owners were notified about the incident.
