State College Police Chief Tom King confirmed Tuesday that Officer Bill Muse was involved in a crash with a taxi early Saturday when he was backing up to go down an alley. The incident resulted in minor damage and no injuries, but is being investigated.
King said an internal investigation is also being conducted to make sure that no departmental policies were violated in the course of the accident. Muse was responding to an incident at the time of the collision.
King confirmed that Muse was involved in a crash in 2011 and was cleared by an investigation.
In 2010, Muse’s police cruiser struck Penn State student Kevin Ignatuk, who had a high blood alcohol content at the time of the incident. The officer was originally found to have been driving too fast at the time, but was later cleared of wrongdoing.
