A Centre County man has been arrested and charged with 1,278 counts related to sexual abuse of two children.

Spring Township police charged Eric Todd Crader, 33, of Pleasant Gap, with 213 counts each of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault of a child, sexual assault and indecent assault of a person younger than 13 years old.

The charges were filed Wednesday in District Judge Tom Jordan’s office, where Crader was arraigned Thursday, but the alleged incidents date back to 2011.

“(Centre County Children and Youth Services) was asked to investigate the case,” said Detective Dale P. Moore. “Spring Township and CYS did a joint investigation on the sexual assault of two children, in conjunction with the Centre County District Attorney’s Office. These charges are the culmination of that investigation.”

The case came to light when one of the children told a school guidance counselor about the alleged incidents. According to the affidavit, the child “did not want to be hurt anymore.”

The abuse allegedly occurred on an almost daily basis and involved oral sex and sodomy. The children said abuse occurred “almost every day after school.”

According to Moore, 208 charges reference assault of one of the children. The other five charges on each count are for alleged instances involving the other victim.

Crader is in the Centre County Correctional Facility on $500,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Online court records indicate that Crader does not have an attorney.
