Two N.J. men charged in downtown State College assault

Two New Jersey men are being held on $100,000 bail after allegedly assaulting another man on the 100 block of East Beaver Avenue in State College early Saturday morning.

Anthony Rosetta, 21, of Robbinsville, N.J., was charged with aggravated assault and simple assault.

Zachary Zielinski, 21, also of Robbinsville, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.

State College police said that a Downtown Safety Enhancement Program officer saw three men beating another man at 1:43 a.m. near Uncle Eli’s and asked police for help.

Police said a sergeant was in his patrol vehicle when he heard a woman screaming and responded to the scene.

The sergeant reported that he witnessed Rosetta standing over another man, who was on his back, and punching him “repeatedly” in the face.

The sergeant said he exited his vehicle to speak with Rosetta, who told police, “I just hit him.”

The fight ensued after the victim bumped into Zielinski and postured as if he was going to hit Zielinski, the police report said.

Another sergeant responded to the scene and stopped Zielinski, who was identified as a second attacker, police said.

Police said a third suspect ran away.

The victim was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for a possible broken skull and other facial fractures, the police report said.
