Police seek suspect in armed robbery at East European Market in Patton Township

Patton Township police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at East European Market, 2110 N. Atherton St. on Saturday afternoon.

Sgt. Sean Albright said police got a report of a white man who entered the market with a handgun and demanded money from the store clerk.

The suspect walked behind the counter and was able to open the cash register himself and take an undisclosed amount of money from the drawer, a police report said.

The man then fled the scene on foot toward the Fairwood Lane area, police said.

Centre County dispatchers said the suspect is described as a young white man, about 6 foot to 6 foot, 3 inches tall, who speaks Russian, and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark colored hat and glasses.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Patton Township police at 234-0273.

Ferguson Township police are assisting in the investigation.
