State College police release assault surveillance

State College police have released images from video surveillance in connection with a reported assault that took place at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of South Garner Street and East Calder Way.

Police initially responded to a fight in progress. On arrival, according to a police report, they stopped a shirtless white man who was bleeding from the face.

The man was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for facial fractures, police said.

According to video surveillance, the man was in a fight with man who exited a dark-colored Chevrolet Z71 extended cab pickup truck, police said. While fighting, a third man approached the first and punched him in the face, knocking him unconscious.

The second and third men then entered the pickup and fled the scene, police said.

Police said they are trying to identify the men who fled in the pickup as well as any other witnesses who may have been in the area when the fight occurred. Tips may be submitted through the police website or by calling 234-7150.
