Mount Union man faces charges over alleged theft from Ferguson Township business

A Mount Union man is charged with burglary, theft, criminal trespass and criminal mischief over a reported crime that occurred last month, according to Ferguson Township police.

The alleged incident occurred early Oct. 5, according to documents. Michael Jamal Simmons, 35, reportedly took more than $3,000 of equipment for his place of employment, API Technologies, 1900 W. College Ave., according to the criminal complaint. Offices in the building were also broken into and electronics owned by employees were also taken, police said. Video surveillance footage was used in identifying Simmons, police said, although two other men in the footage were not identified.

Simmons was arrested Thursday and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kelley Gillette Walker. He is being held at Centre County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 19.
