State College police are asking for help identifying a man who reportedly assaulted a woman early Saturday morning and tried to physically take her from her apartment building.

The woman told police that she was at Beaver Hill apartments when the man approached her and asked for help with something about 1 a.m. Saturday. She reported that he then assaulted and threatened her and tried to remove her from the building, police said. She was able to free herself after she saw some people she knew in the building, police said. She did not suffer any visible injuries and didn’t require medical attention, according to police.

Images of the alleged perpetrator were obtained from video footage in the building. He is described as being college-aged, about 5 feet 5 inches in height and of stocky build, police said. He was also observed tampering with fire apparatus in the building before the reported incident, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call State College police at 234-7150 or submit an anonymous tip on their website.
