Police seek suspect in attempted abduction near Bellefonte

A teenage boy was able to escape an alleged attempted abduction in Spring Township on Thursday.

According to police, the teen was jogging at about 5 p.m. in the area of Upper and Lower Coleville Road near the Graymont Lime Plant. He was approached by a white man, about 40 to 50 years old, weighing about 150 to 180 pounds wearing a blue shirt with a Little League patch on it.

After trying to get the boy to read a number off his cellphone, the man grabbed the teen by the arm and told him, “You’re coming with me,” police said. The teen was able to get free and run into Bellefonte.

While running back into town, the teen said, he saw the man drive past him about three times in a large SUV or truck with a cap on the bed, police said. The vehicle was last seen in the area of Talleyrand Park.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 800-479-0050.
