A cyclist was taken to the hospital after a Tuesday morning collision with a car.
According to police, Janet VanWinkle, 77, of Boalsburg, was headed east on Earlystown Road when she attempted to make a left turn onto Commonwealth Drive. At the same time, Madison Matthews, 22, of Boalsburg, was traveling west on Earlystown.
Matthews said he made eye contact with VanWinkle before entering the intersection, police said. VanWinkle then turned, hitting Matthews’ bicycle and throwing him to the ground.
Matthews was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center with injuries to his hand and legs, police said. VanWinkle was cited for careless turning.
