Thousands of additional charges were added Wednesday against a Taylor Township man accused of possessing and distributing child pornography after police said thousands more images were found on his computer.
Adam Hinton, 25, now faces more than 6,600 counts of child pornography possession and dissemination charges after investigators discovered more than 4,700 images after further analysis of the computer, according to the Centre County District Attorney’s Office.
Hinton was arrested by state police earlier this month, accused of using file sharing software BitTorrent to obtain and share child pornography. Police said they initially found 535 images on his laptop after the arrest, according to court documents.
A majority of the images were of toddlers, according to the original criminal complaint. Others reportedly depicted toddlers and bestiality, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Hinton also faces three felony counts of criminal use of a communications facility for using his computer to obtain, share and store the material and 4,778 counts of displaying obscene material, a misdemeanor, according to court documents.
Hinton waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday. He is held in Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.
