State College police are investigating a reported fraud at a downtown business Tuesday afternoon.
Police said a man and a woman went into Zola Kitchen and Wine Bar and placed an order for takeout. The man paid with a fraudulent travelers check for $100 and got change for the purchase, police said.
The man is described as college age, with short black hair and stubble. The woman is described as having long black hair and wearing a white shirt and jeans, police said.
Local businesses are reminded to exercise caution when accepting these forms of payment and verify their validity by using built-in security features, police said.
