A two-vehicle crash led to a DUI arrest over the weekend in State College.
According to police and a witness, a vehicle driven by John Smolke III, 24, of Halifax, ran a red light at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of South Atherton Street and Westerly Parkway. Police say he struck a vehicle driven by Zachary Smith, 19, of Centre Hall.
Smolke was described as having a “strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath,” police said. He failed to pass a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for DUI.
No injuries were reported, police said. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
