Suspected shoplifter captured outside Wal-Mart

State College police captured a man after he was accused of leaving the Benner Pike Wal-Mart without paying for store merchandise.

According to police, a Wal-Mart loss prevention officer followed the unidentified man through the parking lot and across East College Avenue at about 2:10 p.m. Tuesday. State College police apprehended the suspect outside the Garfield’s at the Nittany Mall.

The suspect was found to be in possession of about $60 in merchandise, police said. The suspect’s prior convictions will determine his charges.
