If you didn’t see flags flying in front of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in State College over the weekend, there was a reason.

Someone stole them.

State College police said the flags were reported missing on Saturday at about 9 a.m. They were last seen in front of the building Friday around 6 p.m.

Police said four flags disappeared from VFW Post 321 on Barnard Street. In addition to the Stars and Stripes, the flags of the Army, Marine and Navy branches of the military were also taken. By early Monday afternoon, a new Old Glory and one other replacement were waving in the autumn breeze, but two of the flagpoles remained bare.

A reward up to $500 is being offered for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.

State College police are asking anyone with information to call 234-7150, email the department at police@statecollegepa.us or to submit an anonymous tip through the website at www.statecollegepa.us.
