Drug charges withdrawn, N.Y. man still faces burglary and weapons charges

Felony drug charges against a Yonkers man were withdrawn Wednesday after preliminary hearings at the Centre County Courthouse.

Joshua Powell, 32, faced charges of possession with intent to deliver after undercover agents allegedly purchased cocaine and heroin from him over a series of three days. However, Powell was taken into custody Friday after allegedly entering a residence illegally to retrieve a backpack.

A bulletproof vest and handgun would later be discovered in the backpack, according to the criminal complaint. Powell still faces felony charges of burglary and possession of a prohibited firearm and unlawful body armor.

The drug charges were withdrawn, and Powell waived his preliminary hearing on the burglary charges. The case now heads toward trial.
