‘A very rewarding experience.’ Bald Eagle Area School District superintendent to step down
Superintendent Scott Graham announced his resignation in a letter to Bald Eagle Area School District families on Thursday morning.
During a special meeting on Wednesday, the board approved April 1 as Graham’s last day.
Graham cited health issues as his reason for leaving the district, saying he needed to focus on rest and recovery.
“The stress of the pandemic was a major factor in exasperating my health issues,” Graham said. “I made the decision last week to resign because I did not feel I could adequately do the job the way it needs to be done while having severe migraine headaches.”
Graham was hired as superintendent in April 2020, taking over for Joseph Clapper. Graham has over 30 years of experience, with a emphasis in working in rural districts and a background in special education.
Graham’s contract was set to run through June 30, 2024, according to previous reporting.
In the letter, Graham thanked the students, faculty and community.
“While there were many difficult days, especially maneuvering through the pandemic, it was a very rewarding experience,” Graham wrote. “I feel blessed to have had this opportunity and I have offered the Board my assistance as the district transitions to a new superintendent.”
Graham hopes to still be involved in the district in the future, although in less official capacity.
“One of my favorite things to do is read to elementary students,” Graham said in the post. “I am hopeful as restrictions continue to be lifted that I will have the opportunity to continue to do that as a volunteer.”
