Pedestrian injured after being hit by driver on Penn State’s University Park campus

A pedestrian was injured Friday after being hit by a driver on the University Park campus, a Penn State police spokeswoman wrote in an email.

The pedestrian — whom police did not identify — was hit about 2 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Curtin and Bigler roads, spokeswoman Jackie Sheader wrote.

They were transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center. Police neither described the nature of the pedestrian’s injuries nor if the driver was injured.

The department declined to provide details about the cause of the crash, a description of the vehicle or if alcohol, drugs, speeding or fatigue were believed to be a factor. An investigation is ongoing.

Curtin Road from University Drive to Bigler Road was closed for about an hour while crews were on scene. The Centre County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Alpha Fire Co. assisted.
