HARRISBURG — Gov. Tom Corbett says he supports the naming of former FBI director Louis Freeh to lead Penn State’s internal investigation into the child sex-abuse allegations against a former assistant football coach.
Corbett said Monday at a public appearance in Harrisburg that he thinks the selection of Freeh is a good one.Asked if he worries that the Penn State investigation could hamper the state attorney general’s investigation, Corbett says Freeh understands the role of a grand jury and a prosecutor and should work well with Attorney General Linda Kelly.
Corbett’s spokesman Kevin Harley said later that the governor was asked his opinion on Freeh’s hiring beforehand.
