Senior Judge John Cleland
The McKean County senior judge is known for being calm, thoughtful and fair. He earned his law degree in 1972 from George Washington University’s National Law Center and was appointed as a judge in 1984 by then-Gov. Dick Thornburgh. He served on the state Superior Court from 2008 to 2010.
He’s known for leading the panel that investigated the Luzerne County cash-for-kids judicial corruption scandal.
Under Cleland, the Sandusky case has been moving at a steady pace.
