The well-known State College area attorney had been leading a vocal defense of Sandusky until the judge issued a gag order.
He raised eyebrows when he had Sandusky give a telephone interview with Bob Costas on NBC. He was outspoken in his defense of Sandusky and says he believes in his innocence.
Colleagues describe him as meticulous and thorough.

He’s been the attorney for other well-known defendants, including former State College Area School District Superintendent Richard Mextorf, who was charged with DUI, and Penn State running back Austin Scott who faced a rape charge that was later dismissed.
The Carlisle-based lawyer has been a supporting attorney to Amendola. A Dickinson School of Law graduate, he has a radio show “Weekend Appointment.”
