Sen. Arlen Specter's move to the Democrats is a loss for Republicans in my view, and that's a view of watching Pennsylvania politics for 30 years.
Specter has served this state well and will continue to serve well if he's re-elected.
Without him, the GOP does not have a candidate that's electable in Pennsylvania, and they can argue all they want about it.
Specter perhaps can beat any Dem rival and return to Washington and serve as he always has.
Again, it's a loss for Republicans and it's another sad sign of the polarizing nature of politics. There should be room for Arlen Specter.
