There's no public paper trail regarding Thon, as we report today, and that's a problem in my view.
It's always best to be transparent, many organizations know.
Last year Thon brought in $6.6 million, and I fully expect a similar if not higher total this year even with the miserable economy.
A lot of people work very hard on Thon all year round, and alumni can be counted on to support it no matter what. They all should be applauded.
Yet Thon doesn't have any public paper trail and doesn't have to have one. Penn State should change all that after this year.
The Centre County United Way raises $2 million and we'll soon know agency-by-agency where the money went.
We should know the same thing about Thon. Donors, of all people, should demand to know.
