It's time Gov. Ed Rendell and state lawmakers move away from trying to toll Interstate 80 and come up with funding sources for transportation.
The feds won't allow I-80 to be tolled, and that's the right decision. Nobody should want to see the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission manage anything else.
The Turnpike Commission can't even manage its own road. Ever drive it? I did over the weekend and it's an embarrassment that you pay a fortune for. I paid almost $10 to drive from the Philly burbs to Harrisburg east, one way.
Amazing how they've managed this road, and it's good they don't get their hands on I-80.
It's time to more on, to find funding, to make a hard decision in Harrisburg, a place where they like to punt and to hide.
