Rep. Irvin holds off challenger as November races set

Running unopposed for some primary races was the trendy thing to do.

State Rep. Rich Irvin, R-Spruce Creek Township, wouldn’t know how that feels during this election cycle.

The incumbent Republican from the 81st District faced Mary Ann Buckley for the ticket. The 81st District covers Halfmoon, Taylor and Worth townships and Port Matilda, and portions of Ferguson and Patton townships. It also covers part of Mifflin County and all of Huntingdon County.

Irvin held off the challenger to win. His next test will be Rick Rogers, who ran unopposed on the Democratic ballot.

State Rep. Mike Hanna, D-Lock Haven, will face Republican Stephanie Borowicz to represent the 76th District. They ran unopposed in the primary.

State Rep. Scott Conklin, D-Rush Township, ran unopposed in the primary for the 77th District. There was no one on the Republican ticket, though that could change if someone gets enough write-in votes.

State Rep. Kerry Benninghoff, R-Bellefonte, will face Democrat Melody Fleck in the 171st District. They were not contested.
