Our View | Thumbs up, thumbs down

Thumbs up: To Park Forest Elementary School teachers, students and parents for stuffing 500 stockings to send to overseas military personnel. The care packages are headed for our troops in Afghanistan, Kuwait and Djibouti. That’s showing some true holiday spirit.

Thumbs down: To the unidentified 44-year-old Tyrone man who was cited for public drunkenness and who later led police on a sometimes high-speed chase that ended near the village of Bald Eagle. Fortunately, no one was hurt. This time.

Thumbs up: To members of New Hope Church for keeping the faith after their church building — in the path of an interchange between Interstates 80 and 99 — was lost to eminent domain. After eight years, they have a new church home. Apparently patience is a virtue.
