Our View | Thumbs up

Thumbs up: To organizers and participants in Wednesday’s Take Back the Night walk on the Penn State campus. The event raises awareness about sexual violence against women while providing support for victims. Statistics show we have a lot of work to do on that front.

Thumbs up: To members of the Bald Eagle Area Education Association, who collected 579 pounds of food during a recent drive. The teachers’ efforts will help those who visit food banks in Howard, Milesburg, Snow Shoe and Port Matilda — maybe even some of their own students.

Thumbs up: To the volunteers who worked together Wednesday planting trees to fight erosion and support fish habitat at the former McCoy’s Dam site on Spring Creek in Boggs Township. The Milesburg Fire Company ferried workers across the stream. Great project.
