Our View | Thumbs

Thumbs up: To Centre County United Way and the hundreds of community members who donated time and energy Thursday during the Col. Gerald Russell Day of Caring, which helps area nonprofits with routine maintenance and upkeep of their facilities.

Thumbs down: To the lack of a meaningful local effort to create and maintain an affordable housing program in the Centre Region. On Thursday, the last of the North Atherton Street mobile home parks closed, sending more low-income residents to uncertain futures.

Thumbs up: To the public-private partnership helping to bring the Moshannon Valley Community Medical Building to Rush Township with a $1.75 million state grant, $1 million from the Highmark Community Investment, and $3.25 million from Penn Highlands Healthcare.
