I appreciated and read with interest in Friday’s CDT a brief history of the American flag (“A grand old flag”).
I also noted the regulations for displaying the Stars and Stripes, which showed six methods or positions for how the flag should be displayed.
These rules are ignored by many politicians regularly at political events. How many times do you see a row of U.S. flags on the podium?
There should be just one flag on the podium to the right of the speaker or hung on a wall in back.

The United States is one nation, and there should be only one American flag at a public event where a podium is the central focus, not an array of several intended for perfect photographic angles.
