The four pictures of State College Area High School published in Sunday’s CDT (“The hidden costs: Leaders say expensive upgrades would be needed even if referendum fails”) are actually a sad indictment of school board members and the director of the Physical Plant.
They are the ones who have allowed the buildings to deteriorate and they obviously don’t have an adequate periodic maintenance and upgrade plan in place.
Their head-in-the-sand philosophy seems to be: Allow the buildings to erode to the point that taxpayers will just have to vote for a referendum to give them more money to build a new high school.
My bet is that the majority of taxpayers are not that gullible.
