Letter to the editor | Seniors should vote for referendum, too

I am almost 80 years old. I have lived here for 58 years. My children attended — and benefited from — the State College Area school system. But that was a long time ago.

For some years now, living on a fixed income with no hope of ever again having money to spare, my attitude has been, “I’m sick and tired of paying for other people’s children.”

However, even with the realization of the increased cost to me, I realize this school project is an investment that must be made. I believe the proposal for State High has been very carefully thought out with the inclusion of citizen feedback and sound decision-making.

It will mean a significant monetary sacrifice for some of us, but, I believe, a necessary one for the good of the children and the future of our community. On May 20, please stand up and be counted. Vote yes on the State High project referendum.
