This violates law. And law is our only bulwark against arbitrary power and the caprice of mobs. It seasons power and, without it, that power is tyrannical.
One thinks of law as something for judges and law books. It is far less abstract. Law lives there as an appeal to conscience each time there is a choice. It urges that the future be just and good.
Now, I know that Congress in paralyzed, and ISIS is a threat to civilization.
