Voting against interests
What shall we make of the last election?
I think the majority of Americans are still economically hurting and blamed the president and his party.
For me, however, this vote for this reason is ironic.
It voted in the opposite party, which is practically in the pay of the multinational corporate structure whose excesses caused the recession and before that moved the good jobs abroad just to reduce their labor costs.
Remember the president’s talk with Steve Jobs about using Chinese rather than American labor? Jobs was adamant that those jobs would never come back here. The president was not so sure.
And, we remember, it was only a little earlier that Ted Kennedy campaigned on American reindustrialization.
Like raising the minimum wage and creating jobs repairing our infrastructure, these are all the Democrats’ ideas.
Where the party now voted into power has made a theme of dismantling the government, which, as countervailing power, is the sole check on business in its worst aspect, devouring the whole country in conscienceless greed.
