The national debt just went over $18 trillion. Pennsylvania’s debt is more than $128 billion. The state spends $129 billion but only takes in $98 billion of revenue.
The State Employees’ Retirement System is more than $50 billion in debt. In a few short years it will be more than $80 billion. A SERS representative was asked what will happen to the retirement system in the future. The representative didn’t know. Common sense tells me it looks a lot like the country of Greece, and we are on the verge of bankruptcy.
Debt is a result of a big government, wasteful spending and being greedy. Just ask politicians what’s being done and they will tell you a nice little story about what they’re proposing in Congress to fix it. In reality, nothing is being done. Someday we’ll all wake up and a life-changing experience will happen by the end of the day.
Debt is the biggest national security problem in this country and it’s being ignored by government. What a sorry day it will be.
