A letter to the editor Friday (“Rep. Thompson’s vote defies public interest”) made an inaccurate statement about the responsibility TransCanada takes in the communities we operate in. Please allow me a moment to set the record straight.
In the unlikely possibility of a pipeline incident, TransCanada accepts 100 percent of the cost of cleanup and reclamation.
No landowner would be responsible for any of the costs incurred on their land.
We live in many of the communities we operate in. Landowners are our partners and neighbors. Their safety is our safety, something we would never compromise.
