Nine trustees, each elected by more than 10,000 alumni, called a special meeting of the board to discuss and vote on Penn State’s position in the Corman/NCAA lawsuit.
Aside from Allie Goldstein, no other trustee had the civility, courtesy or courage to participate. Chairman Keith Masser actually encouraged trustees to boycott the meeting and refused to arrange for live streaming.
Sue and David Paterno were there. State Sen. John Yudichak, D-Luzerne, joined by phone. More than 50 Penn Staters attended the public session. More than 400 logged into the live stream arranged by alumnus Jim Smith. The Centre Daily Times and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette covered the meeting on their front pages. WTAJ-TV sent a camera crew. Media across the state covered the meeting.
You could not find the time to even call in. Civility and disrespect cannot coexist. Unfortunately, your actions speak more loudly than your words.
