Letter to the editor: NCAA wrong all along

I do not understand the questioning by some about overturning the sanctions against Penn State.

There is absolutely no defense of the outrageous actions that Jerry Sandusky was convicted of in 2012.

In 1998, he was first investigated by authorities at several levels regarding inappropriate behavior with young boys. No charges were brought.

He was investigated by state agencies each time he and his wife adopted their five boys. Trained authorities discovered no disqualifying behavior.

Why, then, should Paterno have been expected to see what the trained experts failed to see?

The NCAA thought they had a way to punish a coach and a program that was the envy of many. The NCAA has been proved wrong.
