Recently I had the honor of attending the ceremony to dedicate a portion of highway to one of Centre County’s heroes, Pvt. Donald Lucas, who was killed in Vietnam in 1969.
State Rep. Kerry Benninghoff and I received much thanks and credit for getting this accomplished. The public did not know that I sent my initial letter to state Rep. Mike Hanna. He took the time to forward it to Benninghoff’s office. Hanna knew this was important but not in his district. He also wanted this accomplished. I want it known that Hanna was instrumental in getting the highway dedicated to our local hero, Pvt. Lucas. He deserves as much thanks as the rest of us. Without his involvement, it may not have happened so quickly.
Thanks to everyone who got the job done so quickly. It was long overdue.
