Letter to the editor: Pension ‘reform’ benefits politicians

Well it was nice to see that our Pennsylvania GOP senators finally came up with, and passed a pension bill.

The future employees of the state, once passed by the House and signed by the governor, will now have 401(k)-type retirement plan.

There is nothing wrong with this type of plan, but I found something interesting. The school employees will receive, from their employer, a 2.6 percent contribution of their pay to their retirement plan. Meanwhile our state government employees, who I assume includes all elected state officials, are to receive 4.0 percent contribution from us, the taxpayer.

I guess we have now regressed 240 years where we are once again considered the servant for the benefit of the government, instead of the government being, along with its body, a servant to the people.
